We worked with Lee two years, and we hope to work with the next school two years, then move to another. We'd love to help all at once, but we are an all-volunteer organization so it is difficult to assist more than one school at a time.Bernadettte Drydenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05348998195319575540noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4218436561286592097.post-8888575589166205032010-04-09T16:31:19.645-05:002010-04-09T16:31:19.645-05:00Do you work with other elementary schools or just ...Do you work with other elementary schools or just Lee?Sghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08104149219583690937noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4218436561286592097.post-25146332807801387422010-01-24T16:06:04.561-06:002010-01-24T16:06:04.561-06:00I CAN'T WAIT. I think it's difficult for folks not actively engaged in farming to understand how many barriers we already face from well-meaning government action.

I agree that the bill does not intend to "end farming" and there is no conspiracy behind it. That does not change the deep danger it presents.

I posted a long, and I feel reasonable, analysis of the bill a while back on my blog. Those interested can read it here:

http://cherthollowfarm.blogspot.com/2009/03/hr-875-truly-frightening-bit-of.html

I just reread it and stand by everything I said in it. There are loopholes and vagueness in that bill that would allow agencies to take whatever direction they wanted in enforcement, and we've seen over and over what happens when well-meaning legislation gives too much power to disconnected bureaucrats.

Our food safety problems stem from the fundamental nature of a centralized industrial food system, not from anything inspections, registrations, and agencies can regulate out of existence.Eric Reuterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09236067232538541130noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4218436561286592097.post-74583137489972819142009-03-30T23:19:00.000-05:002009-03-30T23:19:00.000-05:00Interesting NY Times piece.
